New faces are in the squad, but during the pre-match press conference, Ahmed Musa advised that younger players should be given the treatment he got so that they can have a better career.
He advised that the younger players should not rush, but given little minutes before being fully integrated into the team, and that the fans who want to see them play should be patient.
The skipper said, “Super Eagles, when you come you need time, ten minutes, five minutes. I started with five minutes, five minutes took me where I’m today. I know you all have many players, tell them to wait for their time”.
According to Musa, the consequence of not following that pattern could be detrimental to their careers. “You cannot just bring a young player then start him, you are killing his career. That is why many players, when they play for one or two games, it is finished, and you don’t call him anymore”
Musa hasn’t started Nigeria’s last ten games, but he remains an important figure in the team with loads of experience.
