There’s some truth to it, but men’s fertility also decreases with age, albeit far more slowly than women’s. Is there a certain time in a man’s life when he becomes fertile? When will men cease producing sperm?
Medicalnewstoday reports that while sperm production in men remains constant throughout their lives, it does begin to diminish at the age of 35.
Because of declines in sperm motility, sperm volume, and genetic quality with age, the chances of a healthy pregnancy decrease even in younger women.
In addition, older men pose a higher risk of passing on chromosomal and genetic defects due to the decreased genetic quality of their sperm.
Yet, multiple studies have linked the sperm of young men under the age of 20 to an increase in certain birth abnormalities such Down syndrome, cystic kidney disease, and neural tube defects.
