The disorder causes a significant impairment in functioning across various settings. In India, the prevalence of ADHD ranges from 1.6 to 14 per cent in various studies.

According to the researchers, people who are diagnosed with ADHD should be aware of their increased risk factors to help reduce mental health development later on.

ADHD is quite common in the United States, over six million children have been diagnosed with the condition. The disorder is mainly characterised by an inability to concentrate or focus, high energy and impulsivity.

Anxiety disorder
Schizophrenia
PTSD
Anorexia nervosa
People making at least one suicide attempt
