The lady, a resident of Kakamega town, was nabbed while in possession of a five-year-old boy, who had previously been reported missing.

According to Bungoma Police Commander Francis Kooli, the woman intended to sell the child for Ksh15 million.

Police have launched an investigation into the operations of the alleged notorious child trafficking ring to collect information about other missing children to which she might be linked to.

Similar cases have recently surfaced, with police in Eldoret launching investigations after thirty-two children were reported missing.

The suspect in custody is currently held at Bungoma Police Station awaiting further interrogation and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face child trafficking charges.

The police chief has urged parents to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of their young children, particularly in light of another abduction case involving an eight-year-old on April 1, 2024.

In the Langas Estate of Eldoret, a pall of sorrow has descended over numerous households following the disappearance of thirty-two children within three months.

One mother lamented the loss of her 1-year-old daughter, who went missing while playing with other children near their estate gate in the Kambi Nyoka area.

According to the mother, an unfamiliar woman enticed the child with promises of sweets before taking her away.
