During a visit, Whitman revealed that the U.S. government is investing Ksh10.3 billion into various sectors in the county, including agriculture, technology, health, and manufacturing.

The ambassador, after meeting with Kisii Governor Simba Arati, emphasized that one of the key projects is the revival of pyrethrum farming, with plans to recruit 100,000 local farmers to grow the crop.

Pyrethrum, a key ingredient in organic pesticides, is in high demand globally, especially in the U.S. and Europe.

The U.S. is also focusing on agro-processing in banana and avocado factories, aiming to create jobs for Kisiiโ€™s youth.

So far, 36,000 farmers have already been recruited for the pyrethrum project.

In her address, Whitman reassured local farmers that they would be paid directly every two weeks, cutting out middlemen to ensure fair compensation.

She highlighted the U.S. governmentโ€™s continued support for Kisiiโ€™s development and reiterated the importance of building sustainable livelihoods through agriculture and job creationโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
