Biden, while addressing the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, commended the Kenyan contingent for their efforts in restoring serenity in Haiti.

During the summit, the US President called for immediate reforms and expansion of the United Nations (UN) Security Council membership to make it more effective.

He explained that the move would ensure that the security council was well-equipped for peacekeeping missions such as the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti.

“The UN Security Council needs to go back to its job of bringing peace, ending wars and suffering. The UN needs to adapt and bring new perspectives, that is why we support reforming and expanding its membership,” Biden stated.
