The Blues, now under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, are looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign and compete for trophies in the upcoming season.

James, who has had a challenging few months due to injuries, will be eager to prove himself under Pochettino’s guidance.

A knee injury disrupted his progress midway through the season, followed by hamstring troubles that kept him out towards the end. Although he was one of the first players to return to training at Cobham, there are concerns about his full fitness ahead of pre-season.

The Evening Standard reports that James underwent the scan as a precautionary measure after experiencing some pain. Chelsea is optimistic and expecting positive news from the scan, allowing James to participate in the team’s five scheduled pre-season fixtures.

The Blues’ pre-season journey begins next Thursday against newly promoted League Two side Wrexham.
