LP presidential candidate Peter Obi, according to Tinubu, hired Ukwu as an agent to undermine the mandate freely given to him by the Nigerian people.

Ukwu allegedly planned to host a press conference to attack and cast doubt on the legitimacy of the 2023 presidential election, according to Tinubu.

He claimed that the use of the platform he helped create during the military era to emancipate Nigeria against him was insulting, dishonest, and ridiculous.

However, the president-elect noted that while he staked everything for the country, including his life, people like Obi were either mingling with the military or nowhere to be found, according to a statement by his special adviser on media, Dele Alake.

In order to advance a sinister agenda on behalf of Obi, who finished a distant third in the previous presidential election, Tinubu insisted that Ukwu was an impostor hell-bent on deceiving unwary Nigerians in the diaspora and the international community.

“Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by one Lloyd Ukwu, a Nigerian living in the United States and claiming to be the Executive Director of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), to organize a press conference specifically intended to disparage and cast doubt on the credibility of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO),” the statement read.

The claim was made that Ukwu was attempting to fraudulently exploit the NADECO platform for Obi against Tinubu, calling it absurd and a grave insult to Nigerian sensibilities who had personally witnessed the pro-democracy group’s struggle to bring back democratic rule in Nigeria and the role that prominent Nigerians had played in it.

The late Chief Anthony Enahoro, Tinubu, Professor Wole Soyinka, General Alani Ipoola Akinrinade, late Commodore Dan Suleiman, late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, and Chief Cornelius Adebayo were among the Nigerians named on the list, along with others.
