In a detailed response to the 11 grounds tabled by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, Gachagua clarified that the legislator had not tabled any evidence to prove that the companies were involved in any graft schemes.

“It does appear to me that the mover of the motion was so meticulous to get all the companies associated with me and I believe that if he also had evidence of illegalities committed by the companies, he would also have shared/ tabled that for the record,” Gachagua noted. “However, it is not possible to get evidence of illegality where there is none,” he added.

What are the companies at stake?

Ridor Furniture Mart Limited

The company was launched 17 years ago to engage in furniture businesses and currently manages rental properties.

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi and his son bought shares for the company as they sought to undertake manufacturing of animal feeds.

“The company has done only one transaction for manufacturing and sale of animal feed for Ksh.132,000/- and has since remained dormant. It is therefore not true that it has been involved in massive money laundering,” the DP claimed.

He claimed that the company had not traded for the past decade and hence questioned how it could have engaged in corruption in the past two years.
