In Baba Ijesha’s case, his lawyer was challenging the admissibility of the evidence that was presented by the police because he sat on the floor. The court has ruled that sitting on the floor does not make the statement inadmissible because he was not tortured, neither was he under duress. The Lagos State Director of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi, made this known on Wednesday after the cross-examination of the sixth prosecution witness by the defence.

The defence counsel, Mr Kayode Olabiran, announced to the court that they intend to file a no-case submission, but Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo has stated that the court will not take the submission before adjourning the case till January. Baba Ijesha is facing a six-count charge bordering on the indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted assault and others.
