Addressing, his followers moments after he got his membership slip after registering into the party in his ward, Duke said his decision to leave the PDP wasn’t for selfish reasons but for the collective good of the South.

He lamented a situation where the party have refused to honor the Common agreement they had in the past, stating that he can’t belong to such a family.

He however assured his followers followers that, a had a conversation with the governor and that the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket is for the South.

According to the former lawmaker, even if he does not personally benefit from it, at least let it go to someone from the South.

“At this stage that we are, we had vowed that it is the turn of the South to produce the next Governor of Cross River State. When i spoke to the governor, he gave me the assurance that no matter what, for APC the governorship has been zoned to the South. So I have no business whatsoever hanging around a party that is not capable of keeping to the terms and agreement of association.

I have decided to move, not for myself and its not necessary that I need to benefit from that fight. But I will fight to see that the governorship comes to the South, I don’t need to be a beneficiary but it must be somebody from the South.” He concluded.
