Henderson replaced Brice Samba as Steve Cooper’s number one, with England’s World Cup squad on his radar in November. However, with his move to the East Midlands only temporary, Forest could struggle to re-sign the 25-year-old next summer.

However, after their wage bill reached a Premier League record £384 million last season, they could be set to part ways with the Spain goalkeeper.

The report suggests Everton’s Jordan Pickford is a possible alternative, but Henderson could also be a likely candidate to replace De Gea.

Henderson has made 29 appearances for United and would be very well-suited to take over in Manchester. The goalkeeper has been impressive during his short time in the East Midlands, saving penalties from compatriot Declan Rice and Harry Kane.
