The tribunal, composed of Desma Nungo, Stephen Musau, Muzna Jin, and Abdirahman Adan Abdikadir, directed that the respondent re-serve their responses to the applicant through email. The hearing will address Malalaโs removal and the subsequent appointment of Omar as acting Secretary General.
Malala was removed from his position on August 2, 2024, following a decision by UDAโs National Executive Council (NEC), led by the partyโs national chairperson, Cecile Mbarire. The NEC resolved to revoke Malalaโs appointment after weeks of internal conflict within the ruling party.
In a statement, UDA said, โThe appointment of Cleophas Malala as the interim Secretary General is hereby revoked. These changes are effective immediately.โ Following his removal, Hassan Omar, UDAโs vice chairperson, was appointed as the acting Secretary General in line with Article 8.2 of the partyโs constitution.
The tribunalโs ruling now delays these changes pending further legal proceedingsโฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
