Farouk Kibet Calls For National Unity Amidst Plot To Impeach Gachagua

President William Ruto’s long-serving personal assistant and right-hand man Farouk Kibet aimed a sly dig at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua throwing a jab at politicians who seemingly appear to love their community too much at the expense of national unity....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE

Speaking during an event at Chepsaita Primary School in Uasin Gishu County on Friday, Farouk called upon leaders to cast aside their differences and work together for greater good of the nation and its development.

Kibet in a calm tone, without mentioning Gachagua directly, went ahead to shame politicians who have publicly shown their fondness of resorting to their tribal cocoons whenever they experience hiccups, claiming that they are dividing the nation.

“All of us should live in harmony like Kenyans. There are some of us who are encouraging ethnic divisions. I kindly plead that we as Kenyans should prioritise living in peace. Polarising the nation along ethnic lines is steering the country toward the wrong direction,” Kibet stated during the function.

His sentiments come at a time when Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is facing a looming impeachment motion as his political adversaries continue accusing him of propagating ethnic politics. The second in command has also been accused of failing to be cognizant that his office requires him to always present an image of a national leader.

Despite the threats to hound him from office, Gachagua remains defiant and keeps insisting that he will advocate for the interests of the Mt. Kenya region unapologetically.

In recent weeks, Gachagua has held rallies in Mt Kenya where his allies have thrown jabs at President Ruto directly telling him to rein in on his allies planning to impeach his deputy.

In a recent rally in Nairobi’s Wakulima Market, Gachagua addressed the traders in Kikuyu, which his critics used as a stick to beat him with. Defending his affinity for his mother tongue, the DP said all that matters is that his target audience understands him.

He dismissed concerns from his critics that this amounts to fronting tribal politics saying he’s best understood when he speaks in Kikuyu in meetings where the majority are people from his community.

“Communication is not what you say, it’s being understood,” he said. “You talk to people in a language that they understand better,” The DP said during an interview with Citizen TV on 20 September.

Meanwhile, the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is expected to hold a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at State House next week that is expected to decide Gachagua’s fate.

Gachagua has also taken on his boss directly, telling him to be a ‘gentleman’ and let them finish their journey together since they were elected on a joint ticket…CLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
