Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja will now oversee the operations of FKF National Super League club Nairobi United.
This is after the Nairobi county head through the Johnson Sakaja Foundation acquired the Nairobi based club in a move that will see the Governor oversee investments and recruitment to the club.
Nairobi United who play in the second tier FKF National League was donated to the foundation.
Speaking during the unveiling of Nairobi United as part of the Sakaja Foundation, the Governor promised to take responsibility of the club’s finances as he predicts a major overhaul.
“What I want now is to fully professionalise this team. You do not have to have any other job. You will have a monthly salary paid on time. You will wake up, think, dream and eat football,” said Sakaja The governor added that he wishes for the club tom use tournaments like the Sakaja Cup to scout for Talent.
“Now coach that is your ground. When the Sakaja Cup is happenning you make sure you scout and that we have the best talents.”
The Governor shared his vision for the club to become part of the FKF Premier League, emphasising that it can be achieved through hard work and commitment.
The transformation of Nairobi United is set to include significant investments in training facilities, the recruitment of new talent, and enhanced support for the clubβs management and players.
