But now that he has declared his interest once again, he may need to change strategy and use some other methods so as to convince the PDP leaders and statesmen, who have convincingly decided to stay neutral in the country. There is one method of Tinubu that can be useful for Saraki.
Even though Tinubu has not openly talked about his rumoured ambition, he is already going round the country to approach both political and national leaders. And all his movements and steps are covertly driven towards the race to the presidential villa of the country.
Tinubu was obviously at the home of Orji Uzor Kalu. They are both in the All Progressives Congress. Although none of them has come up with any presidential plan, there is no doubt that either of them can lead the country. But Tinubu is smart enough to approach the top APC leader in the Igbo community.
Bukola Saraki can look into this pattern. As a matter of fact, be needs to be meeting top PDP stalwarts as well. There may be some of them who want to lead the country. He can start by having consultation with northern big names including Atiku Abubakar and Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal.
And he should go to shout as well. If he can negotiate with Nyesom Wike, the rest may be simple. Even though Wike alone may not be able to help Saraki, Wike’s cooperation can go a long way to help the former senate president.
Still on the pattern of Tinubu, the former Lagos governor has met some national statesmen. He had meeting with Mr. Tanko Yakasai, who is among the fathers of the Arewa Consultative Forum. Mr. Yakasai told the Punch Newspaper that he had two persons in mind. And it’s all about first come first served. Tinubu for the chance.
So, the main pattern that Bola Tinubu is using is to get the attention and support of top Nigerians before he decides to come out to tell Nigerians he wants to lead them. Bukola Saraki should study this and make use of it.
