Back pain can also be caused by bad posture habits, ranging from how we sit to the kind of mattresses we sleep on. From bad posture to exercise mistakes, we have researched 4 of the most common back-pain causing habits people make on a daily basis. According to healthline, here are mistakes you should avoid.

Sit Hunched

It goes against the natural alignment of your spine. Slumping forward also puts more pressure on your lower back. Gently stretch and move your head and neck up and down and to the right and left every half-hour.

To ease any pain or spasm, apply an ice pack or heating pad to the area. Be sure to cover the skin with a light towel or cloth first. See your doctor if the pain won’t go away.

Improper or Lack of Stretching

Just like the rest of the body, maintaining a flexible back helps prevent back injuries. Stretching also increases blood flow to the stretched area, allowing for improved muscle development, better range of motion, and overall back health.

Sitting on overstuffed wallet

Sitting on an overstuffed wallet may cause discomfort and back pain. If you’re going to be sitting for a prolonged period while driving, for example, take your wallet out of your back pocket.

Exercising the wrong way

Doing exercises the wrong way can injure the back joints for examples, doing pulldowns behind the neck inappropriately can compresses the joints.

Also over-arching the back during shoulder presses and bench pressing weights while failing to keep core muscles engaged for stability can also cause compression on the back joints. Make sure you learn the proper way to use gym equipments.
