This comes after some elderly people and stakeholders of Igbo extraction pleaded with the president to release Nnamdi Kanu.
They have stated that Sunday Igboho, as he is popularly known, committed no crime that would warrant his release.
Although Sunday Igboho is in the custody of Benin Republic officials, Nigeria may help secure his release if the President intercedes.
The Yoruba group claimed that the rights of Sunday Igboho were infringed upon by the Department of State Services (DSS), and they have filed their case in a 20 billion naira suit against the DSS.
When the Igbo leaders met with the president to plead on behalf of Nnamdi Kanu, the president responded that he would consider their request. This has made other people in the Yoruba land, as well as followers of Sunday Igboho, ask the group to plead as well.
The secretary of the group said there was no reason for them to beg.
