Chantal Biya, a Cameroonian-born French lady whom he married in 1994, is the mother of his two children, who are also his children.

In 1982, Biya ascended to the presidency following the unexpected departure of the country’s then president, Ahmadou Ahidjo. Since then, Biya has won every election in a questionable manner, prompting some to claim that he falsifies election results in order to continue in power.

It was attempted to depose him in 1984 in a planned coup, which failed, and Biya fired all of his political adversaries from his government and imprisoned them.

Paul Biya lives with his family in Geneva, Switzerland, where he spends the most of his time. He owns two homes, one in Geneva and the other in Cameroon, although he prefers to spend most of his time in Geneva. On occasion, he travels to Cameroon to participate in public meetings, holidays, and government events, among other things.
