Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour emphasized on The Honest Bunch Podcast uploaded on X, (formerly called Twitter), that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election and Peter Obi, who secured victory in Lagos State in the preceding year, both achieved success without resorting to buying votes.
The Lagos State Gubernatorial candidate for 2023, made this assertion in a featured podcast, which will be released in full on the upcoming episode airing on Monday.
He said, “Peter Obi is the leader that we need for Nigeria, but not the politician that we need for us.”
He added to his words and he said, “Peter Obi does not buy votes. He won Lagos State without buying votes.”
Gbadebo confronted the public who, through their engagement in electoral processes, stirred up ethnic sentiments. He pointed out that the affluent and influential individuals lack true concern for tribal matters, noting that their children are intermarrying.
He emphasized that it is the ordinary people who have been swayed by the emotions of specific ethnic groups.
In his words, he said, “Rich, wealthy people don’t care about tribe. They want excellence. Their children are marrying themselves. It is you that is not productive, that’s suffering, that they are bringing this tribe thing to.”
He mentioned that his father had consistently shared with him memories of a time when Nigeria was thriving, and now he finds himself recounting to his own children how he reminisces about a Nigeria that was more prosperous in the past.
