Having understood that we obviously learn everyday and that no knowledge gained is lost, here in this article, I would be adding to our knowledge by telling us the correct name of what we use on a daily.
It has come to my observation that there are so many grammatical blunders we make on a daily but to us, we are speaking the correct English. Have you ever heard of the word Malapropism? Well, I guess not. “Malapropism” is one of the reasons we make too much grammatical blunders. I know what you’ll be asking yourself now is what is Malapropism? Not to worry, this article has got that covered for you.
“Malapropism” is the incorrect usage of a word in place of the actual and appropriate word. Malapropisms can be started either intentionally or unintentionally to begin a comic effect.
Examples of malapropism include “Fucknizer” which is actually “Vulcanizer”, “Slippers” which is actually “Flip Flop”, “Office Pin” which is actually “Affix Pin” and so on.
Recall, from the beginning of this article, I said that the word “Earpiece” is wrong, right? Now, let me tell us the correct word for this device.
An “Earphone” is a piece of item in which we connect to our gadgets in order to help us here better. It is a device that aids our hearing abilities. Hence, it will be very wrong and unprofessional to call it “Earpiece” but rather, “Earphone”.
“Earphone” is the actual and correct word and not “Earpiece”.
