Many types of cancer can develop in the liver. The most popular type of liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma, which starts in the major type of liver cell. Other types of liver cancer, like intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and hepatoblastoma, are not common.

Cancer that passes to the liver is more common than cancer that starts in the liver cells. Cancer that develops in another part of the body, like the colon, lung, or breast, and then passes to the liver is known as metastatic cancer instead of liver cancer.

This kind of cancer is named after the organ in which it began. For example, metastatic colon cancer addresses cancer that starts in the colon and passes to the liver.

1. Losing weight without trying.

2. Loss of appetite.
