Besides the risk of diseases that old age exposes us to, do you know that weak bones, teeth cavities, kidney stones and plaque buildup in our arteries all have something in common? They are all caused by calcium deposition in the wrong place in the body which is a result of the deficiency of vitamin K2....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>
Vitamin k2, menaquinone is important in the body, especially in our 60s to keep calcium out of the kidney (where it would cause kidney stone), blood vessels (where it would cause heart diseases) and correctly sent to our bones (where it would make them strong) and teeth to make them resistant to cavities. Even so, many studies have found that the deficiencies of vitamin k2 can increase the risk of osteoporosis, haemorrhage, cardiovascular disease, and calcification of the arteries.
1. Natto
Studies show that natto is one of the rare sources of vitamin K2 and several nutrients that contribute to healthy bones and preventing osteoporosis as well as reducing the risk of arterial calcification.
2. Goose liver
Organ meats like the liver are extremely nutrient-dense because they act as storage facilities and fat-soluble nutrients. In addition to the high amount of vitamin k2 in the liver, it also contains vitamins A, D, and E. It is available in the most bioavailable form as MK-4 in animal foods and it prevents calcium deposits in soft tissues.
4. Eel
Although the majority of the vitamin K2 sources are animal-based, eel offers seafood alternatives. Studies found that among other fishes, the eel had the highest concentration of vitamin K2 which is essential for bone and artery health.
5. Dark meat
Dark meat such as goose legs or chicken thigh has a decent amount of vitamin k2 that can aid the metabolism of calcium which can help to build and maintain bone as well as reduce the risk of haemorrhage.
6. Eggs
Eggs contain vitamin k2 with the majority of MK-4 concentrated in the yolk. The amount of vitamin k2 differs from egg to egg, a higher amount of vitamin k2 can be found in pasture-raised chickens, which can improve artery muscles and bine strength.
