If you’re the type that takes ginkgo; ephedra; ginseng; bitter orange; guarana; or St. John’s wort. Just note that these can raise your blood pressure too. Or affect how medications work in your body; including the drugs that control high blood pressure.

Thyroid Problems

Your thyroid gland is a very vital gland. If this gland does not make sufficient amount of thyroid hormone, your heart rate slows down; and your arteries become less stretchy. Then the low hormone levels cause a rise in your LDL “bad” cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol stiffens arteries). Though too much thyroid hormone could also make your heart beat harder and faster; and this elevates your BP numbers.
