City fell behind Arsenal by eight points at one point, but the defending champions didn’t lost since February 5 (a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs).
The fact that this was accomplished in the Premier League, one of the most toughest leagues in the world, says it all. It would take other clubs a long time to catch up to the level of Manchester City.
However, next season will be quite competitive for the teams in the league. While Manchester City would be hoping to retain their title, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and even Chelsea will be hoping to launch a challenge for the title.
Chelsea particularly will not be involved in European competitions next season. They have only the premier league, FA cup and Carabao cup to worry about. With Mauricio Pochettino at the helm of affairs, it’s most likely that Chelsea will be a major stumbling block to City.
Chelsea currently boast of one of the youngest and talented teams in the league. They will not be pushovers next season considering the fact that Pochettino is an experienced coach.
Arsenal on the other hand will be hoping to reignite another title challenge. The Gunners were knocked out of the challenge last season after they were hit with injuries.
Should Mikel Arteta reinforce his squad this summer, the Gunners would most likely battle Manchester City for the league title next season.
Two other teams that Manchester City would look out for, are Liverpool and Manchester United. Both teams will be ready for the title challenge next season.
