1. Sodas and sugary drinks.

Elderly people should avoid consuming sodas and other sugary drinks. This is because regular consumption of these sugary things could raise the amount of sugar in their blood, thereby causing diabetes, obesity and other health conditions.

2. Foods with empty calories.

French fries, burgers and other fast foods contain a lot of calories. These foods doesn’t contain the necessary nutrients needed by elderly people. When calories in your body becomes too much, it might become a problem. As you age, it becomes difficult for you to workout in order to get rid of extra calories.

3. High-sodium foods.

Elderly people should avoid consuming foods that contain an high amount of Sodium. They should not take more than 1.2 grams of sodium a day. When elderly people tend to consume sodium regularly, it will increase their risk of having hypertension or high blood pressure.

4. Caffeine filled foods.

Elderly people are prone to anxiety and shock. This is why they should avoid consuming caffeine. Caffeine tends to increase your heart beat and this could be very dangerous for your heart. Elderly people should stay away from chocolate, teas and other foods that contain caffeine.
