There are some mistakes we make on a daily basis while using the toilet that can cause serious harm to our bodies.

1. Flushing the toilet while it is still open.

This is one of the most common ways to get infections from the toilet. According to research, when flushing the toilet with the lid open, feces and urine can fly up to 6 feet and fill the room.

And if this happens, we will inhale all of the microorganisms present at the time, which can lead to infection.

2. Failure to properly wash your hands with soap and water after use.

Some people still do not know how to properly wash their hands after using the toilet; instead, they simply dip their hands into the water and remove them.

According to research, the average time to wash one’s hands after using the toilet is 20 seconds, and one should not only use water but also soap.

3. Keeping your toothbrush near the toilet.

It perplexes me that people still keep toothbrushes near the toilet. Of all the places in the house, why would someone keep their toothbrush near the toilet?

Some say it should be kept four feet away from the toilet, but I believe it should not be kept so close. When microorgansms escape from the toilet, they tend to settle on our toothbrushes, posing a health risk.

4. Sitting on the toilet for an extended period of time

Many people enjoy using the toilet for an extended period of time while engaging in other activities such as reading a book, reading a newspaper, or even using their phones.

This can lead to a pile because the longer you sit on the toilet, the more pressure you put on your rectum veins.
