Eyesight refers to your capacity to see with your eyes. It’s not a good idea to mess around with the health of your eyes. The food you eat has a big impact on your eye health. There are lots of food that helps to prevent age-related visual disorders.
And some can cause damage to your eyes, especially when you eat them regularly. In this article, I’ll be talking about some of the foods that can harm your eyesight if consumed excessively. See them below;
1. Pasta and bread.
Simple carbs, such as those found in white bread and spaghetti, have been associated with an increased risk of age-related eye disorders, according to research.
Overconsumption of such carbohydrate food is a leading cause of eyesight deterioration in older people. To avoid this, health experts recommend eating whole-grain bread and pasta instead of white bread and spaghetti.
2. Alcohol.
Alcohol use has been linked to eye damage, even though it is not a meal. Excessive drinking can cause cataracts, a common eye ailment that causes a cloudy area in the lens of the eye.
3. Fried foods.
The heating and re-heating of the oils used to fry foods cause the oil to change its molecular structure, which is bad for the entire body and the eyes aren’t exempt. Fried foods are stripped of nutrients and cause free radicals in the body that damage eye cells.
Not only that, but eating fried foods weakens the heart and impairs blood circulation, both of which affect the blood supply to the eyes, and therefore can lead to deteriorating vision.
4. Ready to eat foods.
According to WebMD, “Prepackaged foods things like soup, tomato sauce, and canned goods often have high amounts of sodium, up to 75% of the suggested amount”. You should eat less of these foods to reduce your chances of having high blood pressure and eye-related problems.
