While the first half of the summer transfer season was upsetting for fans, Thomas Tuchel has finally welcomed Raheem Sterling into his team, and the England international might yet be joined by a number of other prominent names.
Tuchel’s season last season faded out, but the German has remarked about feeling reinvigorated ahead of the club’s new era’s first season.
It is obvious that it is not possible to draw too many conclusions from the preseason friendlies, but Chelsea could surely benefit from demonstrating some of the urgency and intensity that made Tuchel’s first few months in his new role such a success.
Since Sterling has been working out with his new teammates, it is logical to presume that he will be used by the club in some manner or another at the very least.
Armando Broja is also in the running as he caught up with the rest of the team in the United States despite continuing negotiations with West Ham over a possible transfer.
N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, did not go since it was not possible to vaccinate them against Covid.
The Mexican teams that will be competing against Chelsea are already in the thick of a domestic competition; however, despite the fact that this presents a number of obvious advantages in comparison to beginning the season relatively cold, it is questionable how seriously they will take a friendly match.
As a result of this summer’s change in ownership, Chelsea is going through a unique period in their history. The Blues will now be visiting the United States for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak began.
