The brave doc had been openly sharing her fight against metastatic sarcoma since 2021, amassing more than 137,000 followers who were touched by her journey.
In her poignant last message, Kimberly expressed: “Hello followers, if you’re seeing this message I have passed away peacefully.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Kim, hi! It’s so nice to meet you and you’re welcome to check out all the cool sarcoma facts, information and my lived experience with death and dying with sarcoma cancer. You don’t have to go just because you’re new.”
Throughout her life Kimberly was a beacon of transparency, aiming to enlighten folks about sarcoma. In her touching farewell video, she reflected on her success in achieving this mission.
She shared: “I love you all, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. I’m in happy tears because you’ve all made me find so much purpose in the end of my life.”, reports the Mirror.
The content creator, initially diagnosed with extra-skeletal osteosarcoma, faced a grim update as her condition progressed to metastatic sarcoma shift which she mentioned isn’t rare.
MayoClinic explains that “sarcoma is a type of cancer that can occur in various locations in your body. Sarcoma is the general term for a broad group of cancers that begin in the bones and in the soft (also called connective) tissues (soft tissue sarcoma).”
Sarcoma symptoms can manifest as a noticeable lump, unexpected bone pain, or a sudden, unexplained broken bone. Patients may also suffer from abdominal pain and unexplained weight loss.
With more than 70 different types of sarcoma, symptoms can vary significantly. Speaking to PEOPLE in April, Kimberly opened up about her personal battle with the disease. She shared: “Symptoms of sarcoma are so important because there is no screening test.
“My symptom was the most common symptom in soft tissue sarcoma. [Everything was] completely normal – including all my lab values – except for a small, but rapidly growing lump in my left leg.
