It has been heavily reported throughout this summer that Amrabat is among United’s main summer targets as Erik ten Hag is hoping to reunite with the talented midfielder.

The Morocco international caught the attention of clubs around Europe last season as he shone at the World Cup and in Europe for Fiorentina.

Having already spent over £150m to sign Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, it’s been suggested that Man Utd need to offload some unwanted players before they can step up their interest in Amrabat.

Anthony Elanga, Fred, Alex Telles and David De Gea have all left the club this summer and they are set to be followed out of the door by Donny van de Beek.

It was reported on Wednesday that Man Utd have made a loan bid for Amrabat but Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio later indicated that Fiorentina will ‘reject all loan offers’ that come in for the centre-midfielder.

United were reportedly pursuing a loan deal so they can get around their Financial Fair Play issues but Football Insider are now claiming that they have ‘made a breakthrough in their bid to sign Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat’.

A deal is seemingly edging closer as the report claims Amrabat has been ‘given the green light by the Italian club to travel to Manchester for talks and a medical’. They add.

‘United are now putting the finishing touches to what will be a marquee signing. They have been pursuing the midfielder all summer and a deal is now believed to be close following late-night developments.

‘Earlier this month (2 August), Football Insider revealed that Amrabat’s agents had travelled to Manchester ahead of a proposed move to Old Trafford.

‘Fiorentina’s asking price for the Morocco international is believed to be around £30million. Amrabat has entered the final year of his contract with the Serie A side but his deal includes the option of a 12-month extension.’

Man Utd supporters should not too excited just yet, though. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that they “didn’t send an official bid” to Fiorentina on Wednesday but the Italian outfit “would accept a loan-to-buy deal”.

“Despite reports, I’m told that Manchester United have not sent any loan deal bid for Sofyan Amrabat,” Romano told Caught Offside.

“The only thing that happened yesterday was that Man United had conversations, via intermediaries, with Fiorentina. They didn’t send an official bid, but Fiorentina have been clear that they could be open to a loan move, though only if there is an obligation to buy clause. They basically want a permanent transfer, and would accept a loan-to-buy deal.

So now it’s on United, but for now there is no loan bid, that’s something all my sources are denying. Let’s see what happens but for now Amrabat remains a top target for Man United and talks will continue….READFULL
