When Lionel Messi won his 8th Ballon Dor award, it led to a huge controversy as fans believed that Haaland deserved the award more. The same thing happened when Lionel Messi won his third FIFA Men’s Best Player Award because once again, Erling Haaland was snubbed.
Stats shows that Haaland deserves the award, however, there are a few other reasons why Messi deserves the award more:
1. Instant Impact In New Club: Before the arrival of Erling Haaland in Manchester City, the English club had always thrived in the EPL and other competitions, except from the Champions league. Erling Haaland might have helped Manchester City win the Champions league, but the fact is that he didn’t play the biggest role in their Champions league victory. Messi on the other hand helped Inter Miami win their first ever trophy, he also played the biggest role in the club’s triumph.
2. Performance In National Team: This is one area which fans have ignored. Lionel Messi performance for his national team was far better than that of every other player, Including Erling Haaland.
