Healthcare providers consider a couple infertile if they try but fail to get pregnant within one year. When the woman is older than 35, the amount of time trying to conceive drops to six months for an infertility diagnosis.

In women over 40, immediate evaluation is warranted. Infertility does not include miscarrying or being unable to carry a baby to childbirth.

According to ” Mayoclinic ” some diseases that can cause a woman not to produce a child may includes:

1. Kidney disease.

Women with kidney failure are usually advised against becoming pregnant. The rate of complications is very high. Risks to both the mother and developing baby are high. If you are thinking of becoming pregnant, talk to your healthcare provider.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with reduced fertility and an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Rates of pre-eclampsia, fetal growth restriction and preterm delivery increase incrementally with the severity of CKD and proteinuria. Pre-pregnancy counselling can facilitate informed decision making. Women with CKD have an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes including pre-eclampsia, fetal growth restriction, preterm delivery and deterioration in maternal renal function.

2. Celiac disease.

Untreated and possibly undiagnosed celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease can cause infertility and pregnancy loss. For that matter, even those being treated for inflammatory bowel disease can experience infertility.

Gluten intolerance or sensitivity can also cause similar symptoms to celiac disease. Indeed, celiac women have been found to have a higher risk of pregnancy complications in their reproductive life and several studies have shown that CD is detectable at an increased frequency in some high-risk groups of patients with a history of reproductive failures.

3. Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Women with untreated p*lvic inflammatory disease (PID) can develop scar tissue that blocks the fallopian tubes. About 100,000 women start infertility treatments every year as a result of PID. However, though getting pregnant can be more difficult for women who have had PID, having a baby is not impossible.

Most women who are treated for PID have no problems conceiving or carrying a pregnancy in the future . However, if you have severe PID or your PID goes untreated, it could damage your fallopian tubes and affect your f*rtility. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a serious condition that can make it harder to conceive and increase the risk for some pregnancy complications.
