Kalonzo stated that if MPs aim to impeach the country’s Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, they should also impeach his boss, William Ruto.
“Let me be clear: if they bring a motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in parliament, they should also bring one against William Ruto,” he said.
He argued that if they do not file an impeachment against Ruto, then their actions are merely an attempt to distract Kenyans from real issues.
“Anything else is upuzi, a weak attempt to divert Kenyans’ attention away from the Adani heist and the perpetrators behind the nefarious scheme,” the further stated.
Kalonzo further stated that impeaching Gachagua based on allegations of his involvement in the Gen Z protests is nonsensical.
In a separate incident, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party leaders vowed to support Gachagua, who is facing threats of impeachment.
During the memorial service for the Hillside Endarasha Academy fire victims, the Azimio leaders, led by Kalonzo, pledged to stand with Gachagua.
The Wiper party leader said it is high time for Kenyans to remain united and avoid falling prey to schemers who plan to divide the country by impeaching Gachagua.
Democratic Action Party of Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa supported Gachagua, stating they would not let the embattled deputy president walk alone.
According to Wamalwa, President William Ruto was determined to cause division within the Mt Kenya region.
Meanwhile, a motion to impeach the deputy president has been prepared and is ready to be presented in Parliament.
The charges in the motion against the deputy president include constitutional violations, related legal breaches, gross misconduct, and abuse of office
