Attention has now turned to next term, which supporters will hope will end with the Reds getting the better of Pep Guardiola’s men. The Premier League will announce Liverpool’s schedule for 2022/23 on Thursday morning at 9am, with matches against both Manchester clubs and Everton typically the ones supporters will search for first.

AFC Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are the three new sides who will be gracing the top-flight, with the latter back at the highest level in England for the first time since 1998/99.

Next season gets under way on August 6 and ends on May 28 2023. It promises to be a campaign of disruption due to the World Cup taking place during the middle of the domestic calendar. League action will be placed on pause after the weekend of November 12/13, resuming on Boxing Day upon the completion of the tournament in Qatar.
