The first edition of the protest happened on Tuesday, June 18, and was led by activist Boniface Mwangi and other influencers.

However, a businesswoman opposed the idea and faulted protesters for being ignorant.

As captured in a video, the woman lectured a group of protesters, saying that was not the best approach.

She argued that the protesters could have peacefully tabled their petition at the parliament rather than disrupting businesses in Nairobi CBD.

A protester who wasn’t captured in the clip responded:

Hundreds of civilians pitched tents outside the National Assembly to pressure MPs to reject the controversial Finance Bill 2024, which has been termed “draconian and oppressive.

Kenyans were apprehensive that the lawmakers could pass the bill into law and subject them to punitive taxes.

In another story, a video of police snatching activist and influencer Hanifa Farsafi’s bag before arrest surfaced.
