Worshippers arrived at the church only to discover posters affixed to the doors, indicating a faction’s decision to block access. This dispute arises between two factions vying for control of the church’s leadership.

The recently elected local church council, led by Joel Kimisoi, was set to take charge this Sunday, but their plans were thwarted when the church was locked.

“We encourage peaceful dialogue, and we’ve been clearing things with the bishop regarding our issues,” said Kimisoi, expressing hope for resolution amid the conflict.

Worshippers gathered in prayer groups outside the church, choosing to avoid potential chaos during the heightened tensions.

The AIC Bishop of Eldoret, Luka Maiyo, was present last Sunday for the local council elections, which resulted in Kimisoi’s team’s re-election.

However, dissenters within the congregation contend that they rejected the newly elected pastors and officials due to ongoing disagreements surrounding church governance and financial management.

The situation has drawn attention from local authorities, who have been called in to help mediate the dispute and restore peace to the community.
