According to Monica, she got married while working as a housegirl in Nairobi, where she met her husband. Before moving in with him, she became pregnant, and they started living as husband and wife. However, their marriage didn’t last long, as they separated six months after she gave birth.

She left her child when she was two years old to work in Saudi Arabia for one year. Upon returning, she rented a house and took her daughter in. Monica began working at Kirigiti Market, and life was manageable.

Despite the challenges, Monica managed to pay her daughter’s school fees and rent without any external support. On the fateful day of her daughter’s suicide, Monica went to work as usual, assuming her daughter was playing outside with other kids due to school holidays. However, upon returning around 2 p.m., she didn’t find her daughter outside, sparking her curiosity.

Upon entering the house, Monica was horrified to find her daughter hanging by her leg. She screamed, and neighbors rushed to help. Despite efforts to save her, Hopeline didn’t survive.

After the postmortem, the doctor concluded that Hopeline had committed suicide, with no signs of struggle or abuse on her body. Monica remains skeptical, feeling her daughter might have been murdered and then hanged to conceal evidence.
