WizKid did Nigeria proud after he won the Grammy awards in 2021. He won the best music video for his song with American singer Beyonce with the song titled “Brown Skin Girl”. After winning the Grammy awards, WizKid did not stop there as he continued to release hit tracks, notably the one featuring fellow Grammy award winner Burna Boy with the song titled “Ginger”, which became a hit song, and another hit track with fast rising singer Tems titled “Essence”.

The Grammy award won by WizKid has really paved the way for him to win more awards and set a record among Nigerian artists. The Grammy award has made him more recognisable on the international scene. Some of the foreign music lovers who had never heard of him before got to know him after he won the Grammy award with Beyonce. The Grammy award recognition has now brought him another fortune, after he won five awards at the African Entertainment Awards, which were held in the USA.
WizKid has now set a new record among Nigerian artists after he became the only Nigerian artist to ever win five awards in one day at the African Entertainment Awards. This is a great achievement for the Nigerian music star as he continues his successful career after the Grammy awards paved the way for more success in his life.
As it stands now, no Nigerian artist has ever won five awards in one day at the African Entertainment Awards before, so WizKid is now the record holder in Nigeria. He won the song of the year category with his song titled “Essence”. He won the album of the year award with “Made In Lagos Album”. He won the best music video with “Essence”. He won the best collaboration with “Essence”, and capped it off with the best male artist of the year award.
