The officer’s wife, who had missed a court session due to undergoing cancer treatment, had her bond cancelled by the magistrate, leading to the shooting.

Chief inspector Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto OCS Londiani police station apparently was not happy with the verdict where the wife was to be remanded until 27th June 2024.

“The wife to OCS Kipruto from londiani was charged with obtaining 1.9M. She has cancer and has been in hospital hence not appeared severally in court. She came today while still on oxygen and the magistrate send her to be detained until 27th and canceled her bond,” Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko alleged on his X Platform.

“That’s what angered the husband who shot her and was equally shot dead. The body of the OCS is still in court and the wife as well. The magistrate has been taken to hospital. May the OCS rest in eternal peace. Quick recovery to the magistrate,”

It is alleged that the accused had appeared before the magistrate in a fraud case where she had been charged with obtaining 1.9 million shillings.

The officer had travelled to Nairobi to attend the case where his wife was a suspect and wanted to be released pending a hearing and determination of the case.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei confirmed that the officer had traveled to Nairobi to attend his wife’s hearing, hoping for her release pending the case’s determination.

However, following the unfavorable ruling, he allegedly went behind the tent and shot magistrate Monica Kivuti.

The officer was shot dead by a fellow officer.

Meanwhile Makadara law courts has been closed untill June 17 following the sad incident as investigations commence, this was announced by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

“All matters at the Makadara Law Courts will be heard virtually and those requiring physical appearance mentioned at the Milimani Law Courts,” Koome said.

“The Judiciary Police Unit in consultation with the office of the Inspector General will reinforce security in all court stations across the country and ensure that persons are not allowed to access court premises while armed with the exception of officers properly accredited to provide security at specified court sessions…CONTINUE READING>>
