United pulled off a memorable victory at Wembley after an underwhelming season in the Premier League under Erik ten Hag.

Following an eighth-place finish, not many gave the Red Devils much of a chance heading into Saturday’s final. But Ten Hag’s men were by far the better side over the course of the 90 minutes and deservedly headed into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo put United in a commanding position at halftime.

But as United looked to run down the clock, the Argentine was in no rush to leave the pitch, which annoyed Walker.

According to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone, the City star was frustrated with Martinez taking the long route to the touchline when he made his way off the pitch.

“It is not surprising given the number of players who have been injured but Manchester United are starting to look tired,” the journalist wrote.

“Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez have gone off. Martinez annoyed Kyle Walker by taking the long route to the touchline.”

Martinez and Varane have proven to be an effective partnership for United under Ten Hag.

The duo were key to their side’s success at Wembley on Saturday, with United’s gameplan to limit City in the final third working perfectly.
