Speaking in Bungoma, Ruto said that evangelism is his original calling.

“I have given a commitment that when I finish my tour of duty as president I will go back to be an evangelist because that is my original calling,” he said.

The President said that the reason he likes addressing Kenyans from the top of cars is because he has an evangelical upbringing.

Ruto said said evangelical tendencies never leave a person in whatever they are doing.

“I am an evangelist and many people wonder why sometimes I stand in raised places, sometimes on top of the car because when your orientation is an evangelist you always behave like an evangelist even when you are doing other things,” he said.

This comes amid claims by critics that he is always on top of cars campaigning.

Ruto has previous said that he would go back to evangelism as a way to support the church.
