During the reign of Emperor Claudius, he felt young unmarried men would be preferred to married men with wives and children for recruitment into the military to become solders. Valentine having realized the injustice of the Emperor, he reached the decision of wedding young lovers in the secret, so as not to become soldiers. Among many beliefs about the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day, information have it that, he may have been killed and buried 14th February around 270 A.D. In order to remember his death and burial, Pope Gelasius declared February 14th as St. Valentine’s Day.

Amongst other activities that take place on St. valentine’s Day, people (mostly lovers; especially singles) engage in outings and exchange of gifts, which to some are gestures for the profession and renewal of their love.

Interestingly, though, sometimes, the celebration does not always end well for some lovers in their relationships, when there is absence of outings and exchange of gifts on the said date of St. Valentine. While some do not see exchange of gifts and outings as inevitable acts to determine the continuation of their relationship, others consider them as inevitable.

Nevertheless, regardless of the activities surrounding St. Valentine’s Day, single men can use that day to their advantage, to test the love of their girlfriends for them through the following ways:

1. Intentionally withdraw presentation of gifts. If you used to give her gifts in the preceding St. Valentine’s celebrations, you can intentionally withdraw that act on the said day.

2. Intentionally withdraw outings. Assuming outing was one of Valentine’s Day celebration routines you partook in when you celebrated the past ones, deliberately decide not to take her out comes 14th February, 2022.

If your girlfriend eventually change negatively towards you because of the aforementioned test of her love, it means she may not love you as much as you thought she does, because, one of the attributes of love is perseverance. If she loves you unconditionally, doing the above listed things won’t affect her relationship with you.
