– The University of Nairobi council has announced the appointment of Margaret Jesang Hutchison as the acting vice-chancellor.
Jesang’s appointment follows the three-month suspension of the embattled VC, Stephen Kiama Gitahi.
The council led by Amukowa Anangwe witnessed as Jesang, who was serving as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research Innovation and Enterprise (RIE), assumed the new role.
“The University of Nairobi, led by its Chair, Prof. Amukowa Anangwe, today witnessed the taking over of office by the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Margret Hutchinson.
“Hutchinson was appointed to the position of Ag. VC on Friday, 2nd August 2024 following the suspension of Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi,” the UoN council said.
The University of Nairobi Council also named Ayub Gitau, former Dean Faculty of Engineering, as acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs.
