In an interview with Going Underground on Monday, Schulenburg suggested this status indicates a deeper military alliance.

“It’s a great fear that we are losing our dominance,” Schulenburg remarked. “If you sit in India, Kenya, South Africa, or Latin America, what do you see? You see a military alliance of the ex-colonial powers operating mostly white. You know this can’t go on like this.”

He argued that NATO is poised to become a significant global crisis, highlighting the West’s diminishing influence. NATO, the world’s largest military alliance, includes members such as Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and the UK.

During President William Ruto’s State visit to the US in May, President Joe Biden announced the US would designate Kenya as a non-NATO ally.

This status was officially conferred on June 25, granting Kenya several benefits, including access to advanced US weaponry and enhanced security cooperation with other superpowers.

As the first sub-Saharan country to receive this status, Kenya joins other African nations like Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. The announcement sparked mixed reactions within Kenya and from global geopolitical stakeholders.
