The funds, which were intended to support development across the continent, instead ended up lining the pockets of those in power, highlighting a troubling trend of corruption that undermines the very purpose of international aid.

According to Ahmednasir, the Chinese government, under President Xi Jinping, allocated over $50 billion to more than fifty African nations, a sum that many would consider inadequate given the continent’s vast needs. However, the reality is that this financial assistance has proven to be unsustainable, as corrupt regimes have consistently siphoned off aid for their own benefit.
