Miano made this announcement while addressing the Committee on Appointments at Parliament on Saturday, clarifying that she had recently revalued her existing assets rather than acquiring new ones.

This declaration marks a significant change from her last financial disclosure in September 2022, when her reported net worth stood at Sh397 million.

“I have not increased the assets but what I have done is to revalue modestly the properties taking into account the appreciation,” Miano explained, shedding light on the dramatic drop in her financial standing.

Rebecca Miano has had a prominent political career, having served as the Trade Cabinet Secretary from October 2023 until her dismissal on July 11, 2024, by President William Ruto. Prior to this role, she was the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development.

Her nomination as the Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary follows her previous candidacy for the position of Attorney General, highlighting her significant presence in the cabinet and her versatility in various leadership roles.

As the committee continues to evaluate her capability and suitability for the Tourism and Wildlife portfolio, Miano’s financial transparency and willingness to address her changed net worth will likely be a focal point in their deliberations.
