1. Cristiano Ronaldo – When he announced his interest in leaving Juventus in the 2021 summer transfer window, Manchester City tried to sign him but the transfer failed to happen. He ended up rejoining Manchester United.
2. Matthyjs De Ligt – Barcelona targeted the Dutch centre back in 2021 but the transfer failed to happen because of Juventus interest in keeping him. He moved to Bayern Munich in the 2022 summer transfer window.
3. Philippe Coutinho – Leicester City was rumoured to be interested in signing the Brazilian attacking midfielder in 2021 when he was playing for Barcelona.
4. Sergio Aguero – Chelsea was interested in signing the Argentine footballer in 2008 when he was playing for Atletico Madrid. The transfer failed to happen as he joined Manchester City later in 2011.
5. Francesco Totti – The Italian forward who played for Roma all of his career was targeted by Real Madrid in 2004.
