In an African society that places a premium on children and sees them as the rewards of a marriage, only couples who have waited a little or long time to conceive can describe the frustration and pressure that comes with not being able to conceive on time. Such couples are sometimes called barren....CONTINUE READING

Infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to conceive despite not using any form of birth control while they are actively attempting to have a family. This condition can afflict anyone of any age, color, or gender and can prevent them from having children.

In males, infertility is frequently brought on by a number of problems, including faulty sperm production, a problem with sperm delivery, and overexposure to a number of environmental factors, including chemicals, alcohol, smoking, and other similar things.

In females, infertility can frequently be attributed to conditions such as ovulation disorders, uterine or cervical disorders, fallopian tube blockage or damage, primary ovarian insufficiency, and pelvic adhesions. Males, on the other hand, are more likely to experience infertility as a result of sperm abnormalities.

In spite of the fact that a healthy lifestyle can mitigate the effects of a number of these risk factors, it may still be necessary to seek professional medical help in order to address the effects of some of these factors.

Nevertheless, it has been discovered that certain foods, due to the fertility-boosting properties of such foods, can positively increase the chances of conceiving by waiting couples.

This finding suggests that waiting couples should consume more of these foods in order to increase their chances of conceiving. This post is going to focus on such meals, and we are going to look at a number of them in more detail below:

1. Foods that are high in antioxidants

According to Medicalnewstoday, Foods with high antioxidant properties, such as folate and zinc, are linked to an overall improvement in the fertility of both men and women. This is because of the ability of these foods to fight off free radicals, which can damage both sperm and egg cells.

Folate and zinc are two examples of foods with high antioxidant properties. Couples who are expecting should increase their consumption of foods high in antioxidants, such as nuts (walnuts, brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts).

Other sources of antioxidants include grains (such as brown rice and unprocessed bread), vegetables (such as kale, spinach, and sweet potatoes), and fruits with high levels of antioxidants (citrus fruits, blueberries, raspberries, and avocados).

2. Foods that are high in fiber

Foods that are high in fiber content, such as beans, vegetables, whole grains, and fruits, are ideal for waiting couples because of their ability to help the body rid itself of excess hormones that may hinder fertility.

Consuming foods that are high in soluble fiber, such as avocados, sweet potatoes, oats, and fruits, is one of the most effective ways to reduce estrogen and progesterone levels. Other examples include:

3. High-fat dairy foods

There is a correlation between having a high consumption of low-fat dairy foods such as low-fat yoghurt and skim milk and an increased likelihood of infertility in females.

On the other hand, research shows that dairy products that are heavy in fat have the opposite impact, since they considerably boost fertility.

Whole milk, full-fat yoghurt, and heavy cream are examples of high-fat dairy items that are suitable for this purpose because of their composition.
