Cheuko reveals her relationship with Messi

In a recent interview, Cheuko shared how Messi, one of the richest footballers in the world, has welcomed him not only as a bodyguard but also as a friend. Cheuko told the Daily Mail: “Messi sees me not only as his bodyguard but also as a friend. We talk, laugh and discover our personalities together. He often invites me to lunch and treats me with great respect.”

A highlight of their friendship

Cheuko also recounted a particularly emotional moment that strengthened their bond. After winning his eighth Ballon d’Or in 2023, Messi made a heartfelt gesture while traveling on a plane.

Cheuko revealed: “When he won the Ballon d’Or, we were on the plane and he said to me: ‘Yassine, carry the Ballon d’Or in your hand!’ I thought at first he wanted me to carry it somewhere else. But when I took it, he said to his son and his wife: ‘The winner of the Ballon d’Or for best bodyguard is Yassine.’”

Reflecting on the touching gesture, Cheuko added: “It was a beautiful moment and words I will never forget from the best player in the world. I feel like I am part of his family and I try to protect him, both physically and psychologically. He trusts me a lot and I give him all my attention. He is extremely humble.”
